Campaign Move 20

1600 25th August 1813

On 23rd August 1813 2nd Allied corps defeated 7th French corps at the battle of Castrillo

On the following day the French retreated towards Burgos

This was the second allied victory, and not only opened the road to Burgos, but also secured the southern flank of 1st Allied corps at Aguillar.

Graham had pushed his corps to first pin, and then defeat, 7th French corps.   After the battle his corps were low on supplies, and had out-marched their supply lines.   He was forced to allow the enemy to retreat towards Burgos unmolested and to concentrate on resting his corps and establishing a new supply depot at Castrillo.
